Through-beam Photoelectric Sensors

A through-beam photoelectric sensor actuates an electrical switch or outputs a signal when a light beam is detected.

SICK through-beam sensors consist of two separate units, a transmitter that emits a light beam and receiver that processes the beam.

See model selection chart below.

  • Detection Priniciple: Through-beam photoelectric sensors
  • Switching modes: Light/dark switching for all through-beam sensors
    • Light switching - A sensor that is light switching, switches its output ON when the light beam is returned to the receiver.  If normally open operation is required, a light switching diffuse sensor can be used.
    • Dark switching - A sensor that is dark switching switches its output ON when the light beam blocked from returning the beam to the receiver.  If normally open operation is required, a dark switching retro-reflective or through-beam sensor could be used.
    • Light/dark switching does both light and dark switching modes
