GE DigitalFlow GF868 Panametrics Ultrasonic Mass Flowmeter for Flare Gas Applications

GE’s DigitalFlow GF868 ultrasonic flowmeter improves the efficiency of petrochemical plants, refineries, and offshore platforms, using a proprietary algorithm to determine instantaneously the molecular weight and mass flow rate of flare gas. By identifying sources of leaks in your flare system, it can be used to conserve energy, reduce product loss, and improve compliance with pollution control regulations.

The GF868 flow meter operates reliably even under unsteady flow, pulsating pressure, varying composition and temperature, harsh environments and the wide flow ranges typical of flare systems. Flow velocity is measurable from 0.1 to 394 ft/s in pipes or stack sizes up to 120" in diameter. There are no moving parts or orifices to wear or clog. The GF868 flow measurement is independent of the gas properties, and it does not require regular maintenance.

Key Specifications

  • Velocity range: 0.1 to 394 ft/sec; Bi-directional velocity range: 0.1 to 328 ft/s
  • Calculates velocity, mass and volumetric flow
  • Provides instantaneous molecular weight of flare gas without the added cost of a gas chromatograph — for leak identification and predictive maintenance
  • Minimal maintenance — No moving parts; nothing to clog or wear out; tolerant to wet or dirty conditions
  • Two isolated inputs, six 4-20 mA output, NAMUR NE43 compliant
